Graduating from the New England College of Optometry, Dr Umapathisivam (also known as Dr Uma) returned home to provide excellent eye care for patients in the city that she is from.
Her training includes extensive experience working in community health centres, veterans affair hospitals and private practices; focusing on comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing and managing ocular disease, pediatric care and specialty services including myopia management, vision therapy and dry eye therapy.
Dr Umapathisivam is fully licensed in both Canada and the United States of America and enjoys enhancing her clinical skills and expanding her knowledge through continuing education courses & workshops. Her special interests include fitting contact lenses (multifocal contact lenses & speciality contact lenses including orthokeratology and scleral lenses), myopia management and ocular disease. She has also participated in an international medical mission trip, providing eye care to rural communities in the Dominican Republic.
She focuses on providing patient-centered care and welcomes patients of all ages. She always wants everyone to leave feeling educated about your eyes, any possible concerns, and recent developments in the eye care world that can help you with your visual needs.
She is delighted to be a part of a friendly, patient-focused team that is always learning and working on providing the BEST eye care possible.
When she is not assisting patients, she enjoys travelling, staying active, reading and baking!
